Our Hip Hop Can Unite Us Workshops ~ Background & Description:

The intent of these workshops is for the artist/ educator to highlight various art forms in the hip hop culture, while helping those at the college age to understand the true culture of hip hop, and how it can be used in their own lives and communities to both educate and empower. Many young community members have not experienced the real hip hop culture but what has been mass marketed to them.  Thus, we decided to bring them a series of workshops that will teach them more about the culture, as well as show them the power of the culture and themselves through reflection. In addition, we are seeing too many young people becoming labeled more and more as criminals simply due to the color of their skin, the neighborhood they are from, and at times simply the clothes they wear and how they speak. However, they blame hip hop culture for this but in reality what has happened is they have taken a culture and transformed it leaving it with leftovers and artists that are puppets. We hope these workshops will help the participants to discover the essence of hip hop and its positive roots along with its power of transformation as we visit colleges & their student bodies.

These workshops are to educate and have the audience interact, think and leave inspired. We are seeking universities and colleges that are looking for an amazing experience that will engage their student body and continue to both educate, inform and inspire them. The workshops are centered on the art and history of the hip hop culture. The workshops would be approximately 45 minutes long with a focus on empowerment, positivity, truth and understanding.  Workshops range from historical contexts, theater arts, dance, DJing, Journalism, the Arts and Emceeing.

Performances Day of Workshop & Headliner Add on Concert:
In addition to the stellar workshops that will occur, each performing arts facilitator will also perform throughout the afternoon at a designated performance space. We also are working with headliner acts to provide an evening performance that incorporates headliners, workshop facilitators, college students and more. Currently, we have the following headliners ready to show the college age population a slice of the hip hop culture: Black Sheep, Dee-1, Smif-n-Wessun and more.  --- We are open to adding more headliners to our list!
