Planet the Rapper

Planet The Rapper, was born Jibri Wright in Chicago, Illinois and raised on the South Side of the city. He was exposed to music and art at a young age. At the age of 5, this young talent was already creating speeches and writing intricate stories reciting them in front of his peers; sometimes even memorizing them. When Planet the Rapper was nine years old he began playing the trumpet, and continued playing in his middle-school band. During his youth, he began practicing how to read and write music. By the end of his middle school years, he wrote his own first musical composition. By the start of high school, he was able to play the guitar, piano, and drum set while also taking an interest in how performances were conducted. In high school he began writing raps. “It was the thing to do in high school back then” he says. “We used to battle rap each other all the time. I liked to try and write more about stories though rather than just constant punchlines.” From this experience he practiced his craft. It wasn’t however until college when he started producing rap beats. Now as a college student at Howard University in Washington DC, he continues to work on his craft, perform and produce music.  Yet, even before entering college he has had his hand in production. Back in high school, local rapper and producer Louchiano, his neighbor, would ask for Planet the Rapper to work with him on his beats and occasionally talk about the importance of the lyrics of a song.  Gaining the ability to master and produce with this great producer, enhanced his skill set and knowledge on creating beats, mixing and producing music. Now, Planet the Rapper is ready to show the world his art, share his music and be heard in his conscious and well-rounded lyrics.  Today he is a full-blown rapper-producer hybrid that loves to perform and have his music heard. Creating is a passion of Planet the Rapper and sharing his creations through HipHop music is the way to manifest this passion.
